Christmas Card Swap Cards

To Start I want to thank all the ladies that joined for making another year a great success. And for those of you who don't know for the last 7 years I have held a Christmas Card swap and then donate the cards that I receive. Usually to my church but I have been known to also send some over seas for the soldiers to send back to their families. So this year was no different except for the fact that I polled my swappers and asked if they wanted me to post them to my blog so they could see everyone's. And I got an overwhelming YES! answer, I think only 3 didn't get back to me. Here for theirs and your viewing pleasures; 41 Christmas Cards! Since this one is mine I figured I would give you the details to it.

Stamp Set: Baby Jesus is Born

Card Stock: Bravo Burgundy, Handsome Hunter and Whisper White

Inks: Bravo Burgundy

Accessories: Bravo Burgundy Grosgrain, Scallop edge punch, 1/4 circle punch, sticky strip and Blender pens.

Technique: Pulling color- after you stamp the image use a blender pen to pull the color from the image to color or shade what you want filled in.

UPDATE: I have had a lot of questions about the size of the circle. It is just under 3 1/2 inches.

Not in all cases but in this one they are both good. That is of course only true if you like Peanut Butter Cups. Ok I made these last year and so I am sure most of you have already seen them. But we didn't make them at a camp so I figured I would share how to make them this year. And what better time then now, 2 weeks from Halloween! Can you believe it? Only 13 days to Halloween, 40 days to Thanksgiving and gasp only 68 days until Christmas! Ok so on to the Samples and directions.....

As usual everything is from ' Up! unless other wise noted....

 

Things you will need to make a Witch hat: Coluzzle, Sticky Strip, Scalloped Circle punch (a regular circle can be used but not quite as cute) DSP or choice, coordinating Card Stock, Paper cutter or snips and CHILLED Mini Peanut Butter Cups. I have found that this works best with chilled PB cups or do it on a cold day. Other wise your PB cup will melt some making it harder to do.

To start you need to cut a Circle out of your designer Series paper. With my Coluzzle kit I use the 3rd circle in from the largest, it works perfect! UPDATE: The circle is just barley under 3 1/2 inches.

 

After you have cute your circle out using the coluzzle fold you circle in half and pinch at the edges if using a paper cutter or crease the full line if using paper snips.

 

Then on line up the 2 creased corners on your paper cutter and cut the circle in half. Or if you were using snips cut along the crease line so you have 2 equal semi-circles.

 

Now for the tricky part...lol. Ok maybe I should have said sticky. You are going to line sticky strip around the outer edge of the circle and half way up the straight edge (see image). Peal the red off the semi-circle side only. It will make it easier to use.

 

Holding your peanut butter cup larger side down, start at the straight edge without the sticky strip and circle the semi-circle side around the Chilled PB cup about a 1/4 of an inch up from the bottom.

 

Once you have made it almost all the way around you want to peal off the last bit of sticky strip from the straight edge. and then finish your way around. It will over lap a bit to hold it secure push the edges as firmly as you can with out misshaping the PB cup.

 

With your coordinating card stock you want to punch out a scallop circle for the brim of the hat.

 

Place 2 or 3 small strips of sticky strip right in the center of the circle (see image). Peal off and center PB cup hat top over it and apply pressure from the bottom of the scallop circle. TA DA your done!

 

I used the new Halloween DSP, Ghostly Greetings for my Hats (the one actually reminds me of a clown hat...lol).

Not quite Friday!?

Ok so it is 3 days late but I did stamp it on Friday and just couldn't find the USB cord to upload it after I took the picture. I have a few thing to post because of it. I found the port in my sons toy basket in the living room today while looking for something else. Of course I haven't found the other item yet but I did fine the cord, still coiled up and twist-tied together. Everyone warned me that boys were way different then girls but I thought that was once the got a little older, not when they weren't even 2 18 months. And is it born into boys to like remote controls? We are constantly having to hide the ones to the TV's and Stereo. And the girls left things alone for the most part. We never actually had to have baby locks on anything. I had one under the kitchen sink for my piece of mind but the girls could'nt have cared less. Not Ethan, we have baby proofed almost the whole house. Cabinets, drawers, doors, closets, toilets, the refrigerator, even the DVD cabinet has locks on it now and he still gets passed them. He has even figured out how to unlock the sliding glass doors and the screens to the back yard too. Ok so now that all you moms of boys are laughing I will move on to my card for Kwerner.com 's Color challenge from last week and Tayloredexpressions Cupcake Challenge sketch.

So this was my first one. Until I noticed that I had forgotten the 3 dots on the bottom of the image. So I recreated the card with some dots on the bottom and came up with this card........ Note that all the items to create both cards were the same except for the rhinestone brads and are all listed on the second card.

pages, Pages and more PAGES!!!!

Starting today and over the next few days I will be posting the pages we did/or will be doing for October's Scrapbook pages depending on your club date.

Ok So since I told you that part of why I was missing was because of my Scrapbook Club that I totally hadn't pre-paired for besides purchasing card stock I thought you might like to see some of the pages. Since I have more then one scrapbook group they each basically do the same pages. My Big Bear group meets every other month now and they do 10, 12x12 2 page layouts. My other club range from 6 a month to 2 a month. So they get the same basic pages but obliviously not all of them. Basically I choose my favorites and those are the 2 that each group does then my next 2 and then my next 2. Some of the ladies that scrapbook with me in my clubs have been with me for nearly 7 years now. So we have basically the same scrapbooks. WOW!! That sounds like such a long time ago but it certainly doesn't feel like that long ago. Anyway so on to the pages....
