Today's card is a Christmas one. I Don't really have many sets to do something for Thanksgiving that you haven't seen already but I will try to find something for you all.

So on to the card. As usual everything comes from Stampin' Up! unless other wise noted.

8th annual Christmas card swap

Most of the swaps have arrived and been swapped and mailed back out. I will post the missing 2 when they arrive. This year felt a bit less organized they I have been in the past but I will blame that on being in the hospital without a way to update the swappers. They all did bueatifully without me bugging them everyday anyway and I thank you all so much for that!! Along with the great samples I received from the swap I also got some cute stamped "thank yous" along with ribbon samples, brad samples, chocolates, and other goodies to say "thank you" and "get well". Thank you ladies for everything!!! Now for the cards I am putting them in alphabetical order except for the last 3 which I am not sure of the stamper, some of my notes feel off the cards and I am waiting for the stamper to email me back.

You saw one of mine the other day and I will post the others in the next day or so.

Flash Foward to Christmas.....

I am still playing catch up and will be updating the list of items I have for sale today so if you are looking it should be updated today.

Before I became sick I started hosting my annual Christmas Card swap. I will share the cards with you once they all arrive. I ended up needing to cover 2 spots of the spots, 1 should have been retired but I don't have any Christmas sets that are retired so they will be getting a current card :-) and the other was to use a current set. This is my card from Group 1, the idea came from a card that Andrea did. I had thought about using the Baroque Motifs with it but she beat me to it.

Tutorial Tuesday and a Mojo monday too....

Ok so I tried to get this done yesterday but as you can see it took until today. Everything was stamped on Monday but just didn't get it finished until tonight. I also stamped a couple of cards over the weekend that I still need to post too so be sure to stop by tomorrow also. I made these for a few of my friends who helped out my Husband a lot last week while I was in the hospital. Now they are tiny in compare to the great help they all were I still thought I needed to give them something to show how much I appreciated their help. ~THANK YOU SO MUCH LADIES!!!~

Now on to the tutorial..... We are making a Ghirardelli Chocolate box. As usual everything is from Stampin' Up! unless other wise noted.

Supplies needed: A piece of 4 1/4 x 8 piece of card stock, some scraps to decorate the box, sticky strip, paper snips, a personal cutter with a score blade, and SNAIL.

 

 

To start you will need to put your paper in personal cutter with the 4 1/4" running across the bottom and score on the 1" mark and at the 3 1/4" mark.

 

 

Now turn it 90 degrees and score it at the 2", 3" 5" and 6" marks.

 

 

Next you will need trim up to the 3" mark on one side and then repeat so it looks like the picture on the right.

Then trim on the other 2 score lines you have left so you have this image. These are going to be the inside flaps of our box.

 

Now we are going to put some Sticky Strip on the inside edge of the box like shown.

 

Now flip your box over and put some sticky strip on the small inside flaps.

Remove the red adhesive cover on the small inside flaps and fold them up to make the front of our box.

Repeat with the large flaps and adherer it to the front that we just made so you have this.

 

Your cover flap is going to be really long so you can trim off the edge some if you wish. I cut off 1" to make the flap fit the way I wanted, but it really is up to you how much you trim off.

 

now you can fill it with your Ghirardelli Chocolates. 3 fit nicely but you can squeeze in 4.

 

   

 Now you can decorate the outside of your box how ever you want. I put a belly band around mine so it could easily be slid off for the candy.

I also used Mojo Monday sketch challenge to make a matching card. So now on to the card.....

What are you waiting for Wednesday? With Technique Tuesday- cracked glass

Ok so I know I am a day late with my Technique Tuesday but I have a good reason. I am sure you don't want to hear about it but it has to do with my Gallbladder.

Anyway since I was a day behind and said I would be starting a new challenge this week. So what is it? It is "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR WEDNESDAY?" What is that you ask? I am sure I am not alone when I say I purchase items, usually embellishments from Stampin' Up! and then never use them. I just hoard them for myself. Why? I am not sure but I decided it is time to use them. I have tons of retired accessories because I never used them. So that is what Wednesdays are going to be about. Using the things we have that we keep for a special occasions. So now Wednesdays are going to be our special occasion. And to get it going I am going to give away some Blog candy to go with it this week. I have some samples of projects from my workshops in September that I will be mailing to the winner. So what is this weeks shelf sitter? RIBBON ORIGINALS, I have tons of them that have retired that haven't even been opened.

So on to the card (at the end) and the tutorial to go with it. As usual all items are from Stampin' Up! unless other wise noted.

SUPPLIES:

Image of Choice

Ink to stamp image

VersaMark

Glassy Glaze

Heat Tool

Powder Pal

Dark colored ink pad (not pictured)

Sponge (not pictured)

Freezer (not SU...LOL)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

To start you need to stamp your image. After you have stamped it COMPLETELY cover it with VersaMark.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Quickly follow up by covering the now Versamarked image with Glassy Glaze.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Heat until all of the Glassy Glaze has melted. It will have a bumpy effect to it. Almost like clear asphalt.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Quickly while it is still hot you will recover it in Glassy Glaze. If yours is not holding the granules then just cover it with VersaMark again.

 

 

 

 

Heat the granules until it has melted again. This time it will have more of a rippled water effect. If it doesn't you can repeat the last 2 steps again.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now you need to take it a place it in the Freezer for about 2-3 minutes.

 

 

 

 

 

Next you are going to gently bend the paper. Only bend it until it cracks. Repeat until you have the effect you want. If yours is not cracking go ahead and place it back in the freezer for a little longer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

With your sponge and darker colored ink (I use Chocolate Chip) sponge on some ink all over the image. This will help the cracks show up better.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Take a tissue and wipe off the excess ink.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

There you have it. Your done! Now just finish your card!! If you decide to try this technique be sure to come back and leave a link so I can see your card too.

STAMP CAMP reminder and new date too!

Since I have had quite a few of you tell me that you really want to come to STAMP CAMP but just can't make it this Friday for one reason or another I have decided to hold a repeat of STAMP CAMP next Friday as well. It's Tuesday again! -Brushed Bleach

It's Tuesday and I'm back with this weeks tutorial. This week we are going to be doing Brushed Bleached, I have also heard it called bleached out. This is a super easy yet effective technique ; esp when you fill your old, dried out blender pen with bleach. Oh before we start Tomorrow I am going to start a weekly challenge so be sure to stop by and check it out. Ok, so Now on to the Tutorial.....

As usual everything is from Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Outline Image stamp, Embossing Powder, VersaMark Ink Pad, Bleach, a paint brush (I use an old blender pen that I have marked BLEACH) and a colored piece of Card Stock.

note my red top to my BLACK embossing powder- this is what happens when your kids get to your stamp stuff after stamp camp and you haven't put everything away yet. This would be great if it were my red because I always reach for it first when looking for red.

 

To start you are going to want to stamp your image in VersaMark ink and stamp your card stock.

Immediately after stampin' your image put on the embossing powder and heat it until all the embossing powder granules have melted. This is easy to check by holding the paper at an angle. If it is all shinny it is done, if there is still a matte looking area that is where you still need to heat.

 

Next you will need to pour some bleach into a cup or some kind of container. I use an old blender pen and let it soak up the bleach. Then I can just paint away and I don't have an open container of Bleach sitting next to me. I am sure with my uber coordination skills I would have tons of cloths with bleach marks on them.

As you "Paint" on the bleach your image will begin to almost glow. The more you put on the brighter it gets. That's it! Easy peasy, lemon squeezy! as my daughter would say.

Now just finish your card....

See I told you I would sit down and stamp something to share today. Every Saturday Stamping411 puts out a challenge. This week it is a sketch challenge. At first I just sat there looking at the sketch and thought I would make a Birthday card for my daughters friends Birthday coming this weekend...... somewhere along the way my card went from the pink and white with a bit of black and cupcakes that I pulled out to a this card.....Where the mutation took place I am not sure but I like the ending card but I still need to work on that Birthday card....LOL

Technique Tuesday - Joseph's Coat

That's right it is Tuesday already. It is just me or did the last week go by really, really fast. My girls started school last Monday so they have been back fora e over a week. Along with that I coach soccer 2 times a week (Tue/Fri), my other daughter has soccer practice too, but at least it is only 1 day a week for now (thurs), both of which have games on Saturdays, then Girl Scouts on Mondays, and I have stamp get-togethers on Wednesdays. Then there is the kids I watch during the day, homework, showers, and errands. Wow now that I look at it no wonder the week seems like it is flying by.

Anyway, back to it being Tuesday..... that means it's time for another technique tutorial. This week we are going to be doing Joesph's Coat. Thank you Kim J. for the suggestion; is there a technique that you would like to see? I am starting a list of requests so just leave a comment or send me an email. Who knows yours could be next!

So on to the Technique.... As usual everything comes from Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

To start you will need the following:

A bloder lined stamp

Glossy White Card Stock

VersaMark

2 colored ink pads- 1 should be lighter, the 2nd should be dark enough color to cover the 1st choice: I used 3 colors for the back ground and Black for the top.

A brayer

Crystal Clear Embossing Powder

Embossing Buddy

Powder Pals (not shown)

Heat Tool

 

 

 

 

To start you are going to want to brayer down your first color. I wanted a multi-colored effect so I inked the Pretty in Pink first, then the Regal Rose on the sides and then the Rose Red on the edges.

 

 

 

 

 

Let you paper dry for a few minutes and then cover it with your Embossing Buddy. This will help to reduce the flecking when you emboss. You will notice later that I totally missed a spot.

 

 

 

 

 

Next you will want to ink up your stamp. Because of the size of mine it is easier to ink upside down. If you haven't tried this on your bigger stamps, you should it works great! Then stamp it on your now colored glossy card stock

 

 

 

 

 

 

Immediately after stamping it cover it in the Crystal Clear Embossing powder and heat until it all melts.

 

 

 

 

Now is the fun part. You are going to brayer the dark color that you chose all over your embossed paper. As you do this it will pop through in color.

 

 

 

 

 

 

TA DA!!! That's it! There you it your joseph's coat paper ready to make a card with.

 

 

 

 

Now for my finished card.  This isn't how it was in my head but I played with it until I decided it was ok. Or at least would do for now.

You've got a friend in me!

Now it is just me or does it happen to you too? Every time I read the phrase stamp "you've got a friend in me" I think of Disney's Toy Story and of course then the song gets stuck in my head. I am sure I am not the only one out there but I thought I would ask. Or at least I hope I'm not alone!! Am I the only crazy one?!?
