What are you waiting for Wednesday? With Technique Tuesday- cracked glass

Ok so I know I am a day late with my Technique Tuesday but I have a good reason. I am sure you don't want to hear about it but it has to do with my Gallbladder.

Anyway since I was a day behind and said I would be starting a new challenge this week. So what is it? It is "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR WEDNESDAY?" What is that you ask? I am sure I am not alone when I say I purchase items, usually embellishments from Stampin' Up! and then never use them. I just hoard them for myself. Why? I am not sure but I decided it is time to use them. I have tons of retired accessories because I never used them. So that is what Wednesdays are going to be about. Using the things we have that we keep for a special occasions. So now Wednesdays are going to be our special occasion. And to get it going I am going to give away some Blog candy to go with it this week. I have some samples of projects from my workshops in September that I will be mailing to the winner. So what is this weeks shelf sitter? RIBBON ORIGINALS, I have tons of them that have retired that haven't even been opened.

So on to the card (at the end) and the tutorial to go with it. As usual all items are from Stampin' Up! unless other wise noted.

SUPPLIES:

Image of Choice

Ink to stamp image

VersaMark

Glassy Glaze

Heat Tool

Powder Pal

Dark colored ink pad (not pictured)

Sponge (not pictured)

Freezer (not SU...LOL)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

To start you need to stamp your image. After you have stamped it COMPLETELY cover it with VersaMark.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Quickly follow up by covering the now Versamarked image with Glassy Glaze.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Heat until all of the Glassy Glaze has melted. It will have a bumpy effect to it. Almost like clear asphalt.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Quickly while it is still hot you will recover it in Glassy Glaze. If yours is not holding the granules then just cover it with VersaMark again.

 

 

 

 

Heat the granules until it has melted again. This time it will have more of a rippled water effect. If it doesn't you can repeat the last 2 steps again.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now you need to take it a place it in the Freezer for about 2-3 minutes.

 

 

 

 

 

Next you are going to gently bend the paper. Only bend it until it cracks. Repeat until you have the effect you want. If yours is not cracking go ahead and place it back in the freezer for a little longer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

With your sponge and darker colored ink (I use Chocolate Chip) sponge on some ink all over the image. This will help the cracks show up better.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Take a tissue and wipe off the excess ink.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

There you have it. Your done! Now just finish your card!! If you decide to try this technique be sure to come back and leave a link so I can see your card too.

Card Stock: Naturals Ivory, Always Artichoke and Chocolate Chip

 

Accessories: Glassy Glaze, Heat Tool, Powder Pals, Styled Silver Hodge Podge Hardware, Chocolate colored Sharpie (not SU!) Designer Label Punch, Beach Front Ribbon Originals (retired), sponge and Mono Multi.

A Birthday challenge and some BLOG CANDY

I know what you are thinking. She said she had pictures to share.  Well I do but they are stuck in the camera. My computer port where I plug in my camera has slipped back and I have to wait for my husband to fix it. So on that note I will add the picture when he fixes it, hopefully tomorrow.

Since my birthday is today I decided to offer some candy for you all. So what is the Blog candy and how do you get it? It is a Ribbon Bundle from the SAB catty, the retired stamp set Birthday Whimsy (NUM) and a box of your favorite Girls scout Cookies (since Girl Scout Birthday is today too, I thought it would go well with the other candy).

Sorry for the delay. The flu ran through out house last weekend and it got me behind. Hopefully this is the last round my kids go through. I think this is the 3rd time it has run through the 3 of them. Anyway, My girls favorite thing about my Blog is getting to choose the winner for the Candy. So what I do is print out all the responses (removing the duplicates) then let each of them choose one slip. Those 2 slips go in a basket and my son chooses one of them. TIME FOR SOMETHING SWEET!!!

 

How about some BLOG CANDY!! Sometime last week My blog counter reached 20,000 hits! I know that is like a drop in a puddle compared to some of your oceans of viewers, but for me it's great!! Anyway, I figured I would celebrate with some CANDY! Here is a picture of what you will be getting if you win. Plus a 5 cards from my stash will be added to the collection.

Drum roll please..........

I printed all the commits out and cut them apart, so I only had the names. Then I folded them up and placed them in a box. Then let my 11 month old son reach in a pull the winner. I figured my girls couldn't fight over it that way.

For those of you who might want to know here is what Tammy wrote.......Your birthday cards from the girls are great!! I hope when my Emily is she will stamp with me. I am not a demo. but love to stamp. Happy Be-lated Birthday. I am just getting involved in some groups and looked at your blog. It's great, I am adding it to my favorites. I am new to all of this stamping stuff but I love watercolor crayons, chalking with blend pens, I just learned to use the two way glue pen and pour dazzling diamonds over it---- bling bling... gotta love it. I have done the shaving cream thing once and that was fun and smelled good too. Thanks for sharing your cards.

Also, I will get the extra samples up hopefully this weekend. I had to go the the Urgent Care to take care of a Sinus infection that has moved into my ear and it putting pressure on my ear drum making me very nauseous.
