Another Inspired by Nature card

It has been a while since I have participated in the Stamping411 Challenge. So today I decided it would be a good day to get back on track with it. When I first looked up the challenge I thought maybe next week would be a better week to come back. But then I figured that, that is why it is called a challenge because it could be hard and challenging. And it was. I looked at it off and on all morning, then I did the dishes and cleaned up a bit and it hit me. So here is what I came up with.....

Stamp Set: Inspired by Nature

Inks: Chocolate Chip SWM, Cameo Coral SWM, Summer Sun SWM, Old Olive SWM and Always Artichoke SWM

Card Stock: Cameo Coral, Chocolate Chip and Naturals Ivory

Accessories: Blender Pens, Color Spritzer Tool,  Paper Piercer and mat pack

So what do you think? Does it work? Does it need ribbon on the side or a different color for the main part of the card?

My 2 hour card........

Have you ever started something and then had so many distractions that it took a lot longer to complete then it should have? That would be this card. I started it thinking cool with the sketch already done this should be a quick card. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! Nearly 2 hours later I finished the card just in time to take it with me to pick up the girls from school and ask a friend how she liked it best. I had part of it done with DOTTO so I could change it if needed. I know your wondering what took so long to get it done. I had more distractions today then one could imagine. It seemed like every time I started to work on it something else happened that required my attention more then the card. It's done and after 2 hours I have decided that this is how it will remain. The sketch came from a Blog called Cards & Things Challenge Blog.

So on to the card... As usual all the items used are from Stampin' Up! unless other wise noted.

Stamp Set: Crazy for Cupcakes

Inks: Basic Black, Pretty in Pink, Old Olive, Rose Red, Bashful Blue and Taken with Teal- Confession- I have had this Ink Pad since we changed Ink Pad styles and today is the first time I have used it. I actually had to take the shrink wrap off of it. I know shame on me.

Card stock: Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, Whisper White and Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack

Accessories: 2 way glue, Dazzling Diamonds, Crystal Effects, 3/4 circle punch, 1in circle punch, 1 3/8 in circle punch and Stamp-a-ma-jig

Here is a close up of the cupcakes... So what do you think? Was it worth the 2 hours it took to complete it?

Have you ever done this??

To start I just want to say, "look it's a Mojo Monday on a Monday"!! OK now back to the question; Have you ever done this before? I am hoping I am not alone on this. I start cards with the idea of what is in my head. More often then not if I have the sketch I will start with the lay out and move on to the stamped image last. Well today was one of those days. I started this card and got all of it mounted down except the white circle in the center, I got up to get the stamp set and realized that I lent out Trendy Trees to a Friend. Oops, now what. So keep that in mind when you look at my card, the set was suppose to be Trendy Trees.

Ok so now on to the card, as usual all the items used come from Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Stamp Set: Cheep Talk

Inks: Old Olive SWM, Chocolate Chip SWM, Brocade Blue IP and So Saffron IP

Paper: Brocade Blue, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White and Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack (available on Jan 5th)

Accessories: Scallop Circle Punch, Scallop Edge Punch, Circle Scissors Plus, Paper Snips and Dimenisonals

Tutorial Tuesday and a Mojo monday too....

Ok so I tried to get this done yesterday but as you can see it took until today. Everything was stamped on Monday but just didn't get it finished until tonight. I also stamped a couple of cards over the weekend that I still need to post too so be sure to stop by tomorrow also. I made these for a few of my friends who helped out my Husband a lot last week while I was in the hospital. Now they are tiny in compare to the great help they all were I still thought I needed to give them something to show how much I appreciated their help. ~THANK YOU SO MUCH LADIES!!!~

Now on to the tutorial..... We are making a Ghirardelli Chocolate box. As usual everything is from Stampin' Up! unless other wise noted.

Supplies needed: A piece of 4 1/4 x 8 piece of card stock, some scraps to decorate the box, sticky strip, paper snips, a personal cutter with a score blade, and SNAIL.

 

 

To start you will need to put your paper in personal cutter with the 4 1/4" running across the bottom and score on the 1" mark and at the 3 1/4" mark.

 

 

Now turn it 90 degrees and score it at the 2", 3" 5" and 6" marks.

 

 

Next you will need trim up to the 3" mark on one side and then repeat so it looks like the picture on the right.

Then trim on the other 2 score lines you have left so you have this image. These are going to be the inside flaps of our box.

 

Now we are going to put some Sticky Strip on the inside edge of the box like shown.

 

Now flip your box over and put some sticky strip on the small inside flaps.

Remove the red adhesive cover on the small inside flaps and fold them up to make the front of our box.

Repeat with the large flaps and adherer it to the front that we just made so you have this.

 

Your cover flap is going to be really long so you can trim off the edge some if you wish. I cut off 1" to make the flap fit the way I wanted, but it really is up to you how much you trim off.

 

now you can fill it with your Ghirardelli Chocolates. 3 fit nicely but you can squeeze in 4.

 

   

 Now you can decorate the outside of your box how ever you want. I put a belly band around mine so it could easily be slid off for the candy.

I also used Mojo Monday sketch challenge to make a matching card. So now on to the card.....

Inks: Sage Shadow, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White Craft 

Card Stock: Sage Shadow, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White

Accessories: Sage Shadow Eyelets (retired), Crop-a-dile, eyelet border punch, paper snips and SNAIL

What are you waiting for Wednesday? With Technique Tuesday- cracked glass

Ok so I know I am a day late with my Technique Tuesday but I have a good reason. I am sure you don't want to hear about it but it has to do with my Gallbladder.

Anyway since I was a day behind and said I would be starting a new challenge this week. So what is it? It is "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR WEDNESDAY?" What is that you ask? I am sure I am not alone when I say I purchase items, usually embellishments from Stampin' Up! and then never use them. I just hoard them for myself. Why? I am not sure but I decided it is time to use them. I have tons of retired accessories because I never used them. So that is what Wednesdays are going to be about. Using the things we have that we keep for a special occasions. So now Wednesdays are going to be our special occasion. And to get it going I am going to give away some Blog candy to go with it this week. I have some samples of projects from my workshops in September that I will be mailing to the winner. So what is this weeks shelf sitter? RIBBON ORIGINALS, I have tons of them that have retired that haven't even been opened.

So on to the card (at the end) and the tutorial to go with it. As usual all items are from Stampin' Up! unless other wise noted.

SUPPLIES:

Image of Choice

Ink to stamp image

VersaMark

Glassy Glaze

Heat Tool

Powder Pal

Dark colored ink pad (not pictured)

Sponge (not pictured)

Freezer (not SU...LOL)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

To start you need to stamp your image. After you have stamped it COMPLETELY cover it with VersaMark.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Quickly follow up by covering the now Versamarked image with Glassy Glaze.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Heat until all of the Glassy Glaze has melted. It will have a bumpy effect to it. Almost like clear asphalt.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Quickly while it is still hot you will recover it in Glassy Glaze. If yours is not holding the granules then just cover it with VersaMark again.

 

 

 

 

Heat the granules until it has melted again. This time it will have more of a rippled water effect. If it doesn't you can repeat the last 2 steps again.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now you need to take it a place it in the Freezer for about 2-3 minutes.

 

 

 

 

 

Next you are going to gently bend the paper. Only bend it until it cracks. Repeat until you have the effect you want. If yours is not cracking go ahead and place it back in the freezer for a little longer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

With your sponge and darker colored ink (I use Chocolate Chip) sponge on some ink all over the image. This will help the cracks show up better.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Take a tissue and wipe off the excess ink.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

There you have it. Your done! Now just finish your card!! If you decide to try this technique be sure to come back and leave a link so I can see your card too.

Accessories: Glassy Glaze, Heat Tool, Powder Pals, Styled Silver Hodge Podge Hardware, Chocolate colored Sharpie (not SU!) Designer Label Punch, Beach Front Ribbon Originals (retired), sponge and Mono Multi.

One of a Kind Pennant Box

Ok so tell me if you have ever done this.... I made 2 cards and a gift this week to give away as gifts but I used Challenges to do them. So I noticed yesterday at a Birthday party, without my camera that I forgot to take a picture of both of the cards and gift. Can you say DUHH Tamarra!!! So unfortunately unless I remake them and they were personalized I can't post them. Someone please tell me you have done this before, because I think it is like my 5 time.Anyway hearing me and my forgetfulness is not what you are here for so I will move on to the reason I am here today.

So my Latenightstampers yahoo group has a challenge each week, this weeks challenge was to create something you used your Big Shot to make. I decided to make the box you will see in a minute. I must admit though the original idea is not mine. I saw a box using the die probably a month or 2 ago while surfing blogs. I am not sure where I saw it or who the original person is. Just that somehow it was made with the pennant, so mine probably is way off because I remember it being cuter...LOL  Anyway, I made the box part first because I needed it to hold a particular item and still be able to get it out. Then measured the sides to go around it.

See I told you I would sit down and stamp something to share today. Every Saturday Stamping411 puts out a challenge. This week it is a sketch challenge. At first I just sat there looking at the sketch and thought I would make a Birthday card for my daughters friends Birthday coming this weekend...... somewhere along the way my card went from the pink and white with a bit of black and cupcakes that I pulled out to a this card.....Where the mutation took place I am not sure but I like the ending card but I still need to work on that Birthday card....LOL

You've got a friend in me!

Now it is just me or does it happen to you too? Every time I read the phrase stamp "you've got a friend in me" I think of Disney's Toy Story and of course then the song gets stuck in my head. I am sure I am not the only one out there but I thought I would ask. Or at least I hope I'm not alone!! Am I the only crazy one?!?

Last night it took me quite a while to actually get sleepy. So I decided to do a scrapbook page for a group challenge. I don't have to much fall stamps left after the retiring of the lastcatalog. So I worked with the 1 set I have. That is one of the stipulations of the challenge is that everything has to be current Stuff from Stampin' Up!. Hope you like it.
